| I've had a small apricot tree for 7 years. I've tried furtializer, watering, pruning and it still only gives a couple of apricots a year. It's a pretty tree with great growth and lush leaves. just no fruit. Should I pull it out and give up? |
| Some apricots have specific chilling requirements and others need a second variety of apricot for cross pollination. Without knowing which tree you are growing, it's hard to know if either of these factors are keeping your tree from flowering and fruiting freely. It's certainly old enough to produce fruit! You may want to bring another apricot tree into your yard. I'd try one of the low-chill self fertile varieties such as Gold Kist (300 hours of chill), produces May-June; Autumn Royal (400 hours) harvest in Sept.; or Early Golden (400 hours), mid to late June. With a second tree, both your apricot trees have a good chance of bearing heavy crops. Good luck with your apricots! |
