| Eggplants can develop both fungal and bacterial diseases. Bacterial diseases are usually fatal - once you recognize the problem, it's often too late. Fungal diseases can sometimes be stopped with applications of a fungicide. But before you decide to spray a fungicide, make sure that the spots are not moving! There's a tiny insect called flea beetle that can look like a black dot but when it is finished feeding, there will be a hole in the leaf. If you find flea beetles, the traditional organic approach to controlling flea beetles has been to resort to the application of an organic pesticide such as pyrethrins or rotenone. |
