i am wanting to move a big pampas grass to a diffrent area of my yard ...when can i do that .....and how do i seprate it ?

You can divide and transplant your pampas grass now, or in the early spring. Start by cutting it down to make it easier to handle and then digging it out of the ground. Most of the roots will be concentrated directly below the plant and in the top 12-18" of soil. After removing the plant, lay it on its side and cut through the roots with a shovel. You can divide it into as many sections as you want, as long as each division has both roots and foliage attached. Replant, water well, and enjoy!
