what is the best way to cover my outdoor plants against heavy frost I live in SC and I have hybiscus trees approx 2 ft tall

Tropical hibiscus will be damaged at 32F but won't be killed. Hardy hibiscus (Rose of Sharon) won't need winter protection. If you have tropical hibiscus you'll need to cover it with a frost-blanket (available at most garden centers).
