I have had this plant for 3 yrs. I only have two stalks on it. They are spindley but it blooms beautifully in the spring and early summer. I fertalize with Miracle Grow every two weeks. It receives shade until about noon and sun the rest of the day. Should I cut it back to encourage it to grow more from the bottom. It has little clusters along the bare stems.

You can prune your clematis now to promote healthy new growth. They should bloom right on time next spring and with any luck you'll have lots more vining stems. After they have finished blooming next year you can prune them again. The more often you prune, the more stems your clematis will develop and the more flowers you can enjoy. Best wishes with your garden!
