Why do my plants get brown tips on the leaves. I am told to wait until the soil dries and then water thoroughly. I have tried every thing I have read or been told. My plants still get brown tips or they die.

Some houseplants are more sensitive to chemicals in the water than others and develop brown tips because of this. You might try bottled water or distilled water. Dry air can also cause the tips to turn brown. Try increasing humidity around your plants by setting them on a gravel filled tray in which you keep a little water. As the water evaporates it increases humidity around the plants. Hope these two strategies help!
