i have a avacado tree i started.i need to move it,what do i need to do ?I dont want to harm it,it is very beautefull,abaut 5 feet tall.started from a seed

The longer it's been in the ground, the more extensive the root system will be so take that into consideration when you start digging. The roots can extend out past the longest branches so you will want to begin digging midway between the trunk and the ends of the branches. Try not to sever any major roots as you dig and when you replant, make sure it will be growing at the same soil level as it was growing before. I'd wait until the weather is coolest - December or January - to move the tree. This will give it several weeks to establish itself before warm weather prompts new growth.
