How far back should I trim my hydrangeas and my mountain fire pieris for winter? |
Pieris is generally pruned after it has finished blooming. If you prune this late in the season any new growth it develops won't have time to harden off and will be killed back in the winter. I'd wait until spring, or after it has finished blooming next summer. You can prune your hydrangea back after frost kills the leaves. Trim it down by one half to one third. Enjoy your garden! |
