The Q&A Archives: dying grass

Question: I sprayed some of my lawn with weed killer I can i get that grass to grow back?

Answer: You can if you rake out the dead areas and reseed, then cover with a light coating of peat moss or compost. Some herbicides remain a long time in the soil and others break down quickly so check the label on the product you used to see if there is a waiting period before you can plant. If so, you may need to wait until next spring to reseed. If there is a minimal waiting period (such as with Round Up) you can reseed right away. Best wishes with your lawn.
