I have two apple trees that I planted this spring. They have grown branches at the bottom of the trunk. When is it safe to prune these branches? I live in Northwest Georgia. thank you

What you describe sound like suckers coming from the roots. Apple trees are notorious for developing suckers at the base and you can prune them off as soon as they develop. Removing the suckers won't harm your tree. Hope you have a great harvest!
