Question: I own property which is located on a small lake, pond and would like to know what kinds of plants to grow there (zone 7). I like Irises -- what kind? What else? The pond already has water lilies growing there naturally. Terry Plummer Dover, DE

Answer: Here are a number of plants that like wet feet: Aquilegia (columbine), Chelone lyonii (pink turtlehead), Cimicifuga simplex (Kamchatka bugbane), Japanese or Yellow Flag or siberian Iris, Astilbe, Caltha palustris (pot marigold), Ilex (winterberry), Salix discolor (pussy willow), Viburnums, etc.! Have fun!
