| Montauk daisies will fail to bloom if they do not get enough sunshine or if they've gotten too much fertilizer. Excessive nitrogen can keep plants from flowering so check to make sure your plants are getting all day sunshine and be sure to hold back on fertilizer next year. Hydrangeas bloom best when they get 4 hours of morning sunshine. Without enough sun, they just won't bloom well. Some hydrangeas bloom on new growth that comes from old wood and others bloom on new growth even if they die down to ground level each winter. Make sure your hydrangeas are suited to your climate and do not need old wood on which to bloom. When new growth begins in the spring, prune each new shoot down to a pair of leaves and it should develop into two new branches and each should bloom. Enjoy your garden! |
