I HAVE AN ANNUAL PLANT WHICH RESEMBLES A POINSETTIA IN THAT THE TOP LEAVES COLOR TOWARD THE CENTER BRACT. IT WILL RESEED AS SMALL BLACK SEEDS DROP FROM THE BRACT AT THE END OF THE YEAR. I WAS GIVEN THIS PLANT IN KENTUCKY AND HAVE STARTED MY OWN FROM THE SEED RIGHT HERE IN MS.
SEEMS TO LIKE SUN, COLORING FROM RED/ORANGE CHANGING TO WHITE AS IT MATURES. NO ONE AT LOCAL GARDEN CENTER CAN IDENTIFY.

It sounds like Amaranthus tricolor - commonly called Joseph's Coat. You can find photos on the web if you search "Amaranthus tricolor".
