The Q&A Archives: zone 13 fall veggie planting

Question: I have a 40 sf raised bed. I have taken out the summer garden. What do I need to start my fall garden

Answer: Start by amending the soil with organic matter. I spread 2-3 inches of compost, peat moss, shredded leaves, etc. over the top of the bed and dig it in to a depth of 8-10 inches. Rake the soil level and plant. In August or September you can sow seeds of beans, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, leaf lettuces and green onions. Hope you have a great harvest!
