Are some mums considered annuals and others perennials? Which ones should I buy if I want perennials?

Anything you might buy in a grocery store or a florist's shop are considered too tender to winter over. For perennial mums, purchase "garden mums". These are typically the ones sold at garden centers and nurseries.
