Dear Gardener,

When is the best time to put lime on the lawn? And should one do it before it rains? Can one put too much lime on the lawn?

Thanks, carl

Fall is a good time to apply lime to your lawn and yes, you can apply too much so be sure to use a spreader to get complete coverage and set the spreader to the setting as recommended on the lime package. It is available in both pelleted and granular form and should be easy to find in the garden center - look near the fertilizer area and you should find several brands. Dolomitic lime is your best choice. Best wishes with your lawn.
