To help control erosion on the slope I'd start by planting a groundcover or two. honeysuckle, pachysandra, euonymus, Bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi), Wild Ginger (Asarum canadense), Wintergreen and English ivy are all good choices for your area. Once you have your groundcover plants in place you can add a few low growing shrubs to add interest. Enjoy your garden!
