| Hello again, This is my third question this week. Am I being a pest? At any rate I do have another question. I have planted Isatoma as my lawns in the front and back of the house. I have been recovering from back surgery that has kept me out of the garden all summer. Needless-to-say my garden has suffered. My Isatoma has large brown areas. Do I cut it away, and plant new, or just let the winter rains and spring fill it in. I live along the coastline in California, Northern part. Thanks again, you've been such a support system. As you can see I am back on my feet and ready to take charge of my passion, the garden. Alix |
| Glad you're recovering and are ready to get back into the garden! We're happy to answer your questions so don't worry about asking too many. Isotoma, or Blue Star Creeper, is a great groundcover, especially as a lawn substitute. It doesn't have any particular insect or disease problems so I wonder if maybe the areas dried out due to droughty conditions? I'd pull or dig the dead plants and rough up the soil a bit with a hoe. The healthy neighboring plants will creep in and fill the bare spots. Best wishes with your garden! |
