| I'm sorry to hear the onion sets didn't perform well. When did you plant them? Onion sets won't form bulbs if planted mid-June or later (in your area). Also, there may be some kind of nutrient imbalance that favored the tops in expense of the bulbs. Your county extension office (ph# 215/345-3283) can help you out with soil testing if you wish. Just like for tulip and daffodil bulbs, plant garlic after Columbus Day and before the ground freezes. Best of luck! |
