Recurvifolium Ligustrum, bushes. We bought from you and they didn't bloom this year only second year. When should we prune?Frost may have gotten before blooms, burnt young new growth.I have been afraid to prune so they will bloom next year.Thank You |
Ligustrum blooms on new growth so wait until after your last frost next spring and prune them back then. The new growth should develop flowers. After the flowers are spent you can prune it back again. Pruning encourages new growth (which will flower) but it also helps keep the plant looking neat and tidy. These are fast growing shrubs and can get leggy without pruning so be sure to prune it back by several inches each time it has finished flowering. Enjoy your garden! |
