The average first frost date in the Ft. Worth area is about November 22 and the last frost date is about mid-March. This means fall is approximately late September on. You can dig and divide your irises now. The elephant ears will die down with the first freeze and you can cut off the foliage. Dig and divide the bulbs (tubers) in the spring before new growth begins. Best wishes with your new garden!
