Purslane is a broadleaf weed so any product with 2,4-D should control the current weeds. You can spot treat or use the product on your entire lawn. It targets only broadleaf weeds, not grasses. The weed seeds normally germinate in February or March in your growing region so applying a pre emergent herbicide in late January should stop the weeds from sprouting up next spring. Best wishes with your lawn.
