When should I plant bulbs? I live in central NC, and my neighbor said she planted hers in early October and they popped up by January. I'm new to the area and don't know when the first frost is. I've also heard that it can be erratic.

I would place the bulbs in the refrigerator until December and plant them in late December or early January so they will come up at the right time!
