| as we prepare to close down the garden, we were wondering if you should put horse manure on top of the soil to renew the nutrients when we mixed into the ground in spring. Some say that manure is not good for all plants. What is best for our soil which is serious need of replenishment? |
| Actually, fall is an excellent time to spread manure over your garden. It will help suppress winter weeds if it is 3-4 inches thick and in the spring you can dig it into the soil to help loosen the soil and enrich it. Dig it in to a depth of about 8-10 inches and you'll have some happy vegetable plants! Best wishes with your garden~ |
