Could you suggest flowers and vegetables that can be planted now from seed for a fall garden?

There are several vegetables that you can sow now for a fall crop: beets, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, kale, kohlrabi, snap beans, peas, radishes, lettuce and other greens. You may need to cover some of these crops with floating row covers on cold nights.

As for flowers, you can try sowing cosmos, calendulas, dianthus, marigolds, sweet peas, and zinnias. Pansies will bloom into the late fall but you'd probably have better luck buying transplants. For days to harvest/bloom, check the seed packets.
