The Q&A Archives: Regarding Orchids

Question: Which is the best medium for planting Orchids in. Fir Bark or Moss or is there another one you think would be better?

Answer: Terrestrial orchids love to be in finer bark mixes such as redwood fiber or peat moss. Such fine potting mixes can make watering difficult, though, because they can hold too much water. I always choose bark chips or tiny bark nuggets over peat or fiber just to stay on the safe side.
