I have a plant on the patio that has long leaves approx. one foot long and more leaves grow from it. It's now about eight foot tall and all leaves. The lady I got it from said it gets a flower as big as a dinner plate. It has not bloomed for me as of yet. Can you tell me the name of this plant?

The only plant I am familiar with that has dinner plate sized flowers is Dahlia. It grows 6-8' tall and it flowers best in full sunshine. If your plant is not getting flowers, it may need more sun. Perhaps the lady who gave you the plant can give you a clue as to whether she grew it in the sun or in the shade. Hope you figure out what the plant's name is!
