I would like to construct a small garden pond or fountain without using an electric pump. I am very leary about using electricity with water. Are there any non-electric pumps or ways to build a pond or fountain without a water pump?

Most pumps available for circulating water through ponds or fountains are electric. I'm sure there are some battery-powered ones out there, and I know of some solar-powered ones. Real Goods (www.realgoods.com) has a solar panel designed for this purpose. To chat with water gardeners on this topic to see if there are other alternatives, visit USENET.REC.PONDS/ and for a list of links to further sites, visit Northern Pond at http://www.cyberus.ca/~north
