Cherry Plum Tree - Knowledgebase Question

For 15 years a tree grew in my yard. This year it bore "cherry size plums". Any information about it would be apreciated

What fun! This spring was a fabulous spring for fruit production. If your tree is normally considered to be just an ornamental plum grown for its flowers, it is possible it responded to the great conditions by making fruit large enough to notice. Cherries and plums are closely related, so this is quite possible.
