I'm wondering about the vine known as the mile a minute vine because it grows so fast - what time of year do you plant vines and does this vine keep its leaves during the winter months where it freezes.

The Mile-A-Minute Vine is Mikania micrantha. It's on the Federal Noxious Weed list, so planting it wouldn't be a good idea. It grows rampant and reseeds easily, especially in tropical climates. It's evergreen in mild winter areas and dies down in in harsh winter areas, only to show up again in the spring. There are other, less noxious vines that provide quick summer cover. Try Scarlet Runner Beans or Morning Glory.
