Two years ago I cut down a pine tree but left the stump as decoration for the garden. From the base of this tree stump there is a white material spreading, that has gone into the grass and into the flower area. It can easily be dug up but does come back. How do I get rid of this stuff?? |
The white fungi is feeding on the decomposing wood of your stump. It's spreading along the underground roots of the former tree, which is why you're finding it some distance from the stump. It won't infect your plants and it will remain (or return) until the nutrients from the decomposing roots of the tree no longer support the fungi. |
