I just purchased some Phlox seeds for next year (.10 a pack). The directions indicate that the seeds should be planted indoors. I was under the assumption that they could be directly seeded outdoors as soon as the soil is workable. Also, should I refrigerate seeds for next year or are they o.k. in package.

Annual phlox can be direct seeded in spring while the soil is cool, and even before your last frost. You can start them indoors in flats to get a jump on bloom. Plan to put them out 2-3 weeks prior to your last frost. Perennial phlox do require cold treatment, require darkness to germinate, and germination can take up to a month. Enjoy!
