Chinch bugs cause irregular areas that turn from green to tan or brown. As they feed and multiply the area grows in size like a fire burning outward.

They typically attack in the warm months of summer and usually start in a sunny location and adjacent to a sidewalk, driveway, curb or other masonary structure.

Overwatering and overfertilizing causes lush growth and an increased likelyhood of chinch bug problems.
