| The best advice I can offer is that you decide which herbs appeal to you, and will suit the growing site. Your own motivation should guide you in making choices. Generally, herbs are categorized by their uses: culinary, medicinal, natural dyes, fragrance/potpourri, etc. You'll often find the same herb can fall into more than one of these categories! Most herbs do best in full sun, but there are some that prefer to grow in shade or part-shade.
