Answer: Lavatera (Lavatera cachemiriana and L. thuringiaca) usually bloom during summer, although not "all summer" by any stretch in my experience. Is it possible you have a different type? In any case, to try to extend the period of bloom I would suggest deadheading promptly, ensuring adequate moisture and topdressing with compost.
