I have a 4 year old perennial Lavatera that only flowers for a short period of time in the Spring. I thought it should flower most of the Summer. I have given it Miracle Gro two or three times, it gets plenty of sun, and generally looks healthy. Any suggestions?

Lavatera (Lavatera cachemiriana and L. thuringiaca) usually bloom during summer, although not "all summer" by any stretch in my experience. Is it possible you have a different type? In any case, to try to extend the period of bloom I would suggest deadheading promptly, ensuring adequate moisture and topdressing with compost. Also, be sure you are not applying too much nitrogen as that can encourage foliage growth rather than blooming. Good luck with your plant!
