Question: What is the best way to prepare the soil for planting annual flowers? Elizabeth

Answer: Wilson Texico, IL A.Before planting annuals, add lots (at least 3-4" layer) of composted cow manure (bags or fresh) to the soil, turn it in well, add a sprinkling of lime to keep the pH up and with each annual flower transplant add a handful ofa complete organic fertilizer. Mulch the plants in early summer, keeping them well watered and weed free and they should reward you with tons of flowers by summer.
