| Trying to find out how to introduce hops into the soil for a nitrogen source. Not sure if I should use raw or spent hops, and if they have enemies or companions. Is there some one who could help, for all the info I find on Hops is for brewing beer. |
| Spent hops have been used for quite some time as a soil amendment, spread like manure on fields, and as mulch. Because they are quite acidic - pH 4.5 - and they can be smelly when fresh, you may want to compost them before adding them to the soil. Their relatively high nitrogen content acts as a great activator in the compost pile. Hope this helps! |
