Are the leaves of Horseradish edible? How?

The leaves of horseradish are hairy (almost spiney) and somewhat bitter. While they're not toxic if eaten, most people wouldn't intentionally eat them, either cooked or raw. Why not compost the leaves of your horseradish so you can put them back to work in your garden?
