To be honest, in my experience hungry deer will eat just about anything and trample on the rest in the process. They also seem to be creatures of habit, so if your plants are on their regular route.... While there are published lists of supposedly resistant plants, the lists are not very helpful because deer are very adaptable animals and will quickly learn to eat what is available in their local area. You might be able to develop your own localized list with the help of other gardeners in your immediate area.

There are some other options, too. Some gardeners report success using the commercially available or home-made repellant sprays (these need to be applied and reapplied according to the instyructions on the label) and various other reputed deterrents such as hanging soap and human hair or sprinkling bloodmeal around the plants. In the long run, though, your most reliable solution is a fence.
