Late Season Greens - Knowledgebase Question

In Northern Illinois, Zone 4, can I plant (1) peas; (2) spinach; and (3) lettuce with any hope of a crop at this time of year (August 30)?

You can grow lettuce and spinach successfully if you sow it by mid-September. Peas are another story. Peas need long days in order to bloom, so the plants will grow, but there won't be any pods to harvest. Enjoy those fall salads!
