The Q&A Archives: Stella d'oro Care

Question: Does one need to cut back Stella d'oro for the winter?

Answer: The flowering stalk on daylilies should be cut down after blooming has finished. You can wait until frost kills back the foliage, then remove it from the plant and mulch over the top of the soil to help protect the roots during the inter months. Stella d'Oro are hardy plants that should provide blooms for many years if you provide winter protection.
