I have grown Bright Lights Swiss Chard and the plants look gorgeous! Problem is, I'm not sure how or when to harvest, and even worse, I don't know how to prepare the vegetable for eating. Are the stems and leaves eaten? Thanks if you have any preparation tips! |
Swiss Chard is a beautiful plant, even if you don't plan to eat it! Most gardeners just pick off the outer leaves as needed, allowing the plant to continue to produce new leaves. Chard is used just like spinach; eat the tender leaves raw in salads, or harvest the older leaves, remove the tough mid-rib, and boil until tender. Enjoy! |
