| Last winter was my first attempt at growing herbs and vegetables under lights. The herbs did well, and I had a yellow pear tomato plant and a hot pepper plant as well. After watching a few blossoms wither, I figured out that I need to pollinate (remember, this is my first attempt at indoor vegetable gardens!). My question is this: are there any vegetable seeds you can recommend which will not require manual pollination? |
| Most of the vegetables (or fruits) which hold seeds will require pollination in order to "set". This would include tomatoes and peppers, cukes, zukes, melons, and so on. Veggies we eat in stages before seed formation such as simple sprouts, lettuce, spinach and other greens, broccoli, cabbage, radish, carrot and so on would not require pollination in order to produce an edible crop. If you get motivated though, pollination is not that difficult -- a few swishes with a paint brush will do it. Enjoy your veggies! |
