I have a semi dwarf apricot tree which my mother planted about 10 years ago. Each year it puts out hundreds of flowers the bees come and then nothing, only once it tried to fruit but they all fell off about the size that the normal pit would be. The tree looks old by now but remains sterile...any clues?

Apricots bloom and set fruit very early in the spring, so to be honest I suspect in all probablility what has been happening is that late frosts have damaged the blooms and/or tiny fruit. In a sense, that is normal albeit unfortunate. Apricot trees are hardy to USDA zone 5, but this form of crop loss is a very common problem in many areas.
