I am interested in growing grapes to make homemade red wine. Do you have any suggestions in what type of grape to start with and how much sunlight do they need?

Grapes should be planted in full sun well away from the competing roots of trees; in addition, a gently sloping location is preferred because it provides good air circulation. You might wish to contact the local County Extension office (tel. 560-4150) for specific information about wine grape varieties best suited to your area along with your locally recommended spray schedule for grapes. Good luck with your project!
