The Q&A Archives: Growing Alfalfa Sprouts

Question: I would like to grow Alfalfa Sprouts. I bought a sprouter which says the seeds should be placed in a warm, sunny place. However, the package of seeds said to grow them in the a warm dark.Which is correct? Jeff Norris Lake Forest, CA

Answer: It's both! When you place the sprouts in the sprouter, the conditions should be dark and warm for best germination. Once germinated, if you want the sprouts to have a bit of green on them, place the sprouter in a warm, sunny location for the chlorophyll to develop. Enjoy the sprouts. Good luck with your garden.
