Hydrangeas bloom on new shoots produced on old wood. If you pruned your shrub last year, or if winter weather killed back the branches, it would affect the ability of the hydrangea to bloom. Try pruning back some of the branches part-way, to encourage new flowering shoots to develop next spring. Better luck next year!
