I have window boxes in the front of my house that get strong sunshine all day long. They are never in the shade, everything I put in them seems to burn out. I water twice a day and have a soil mixture to help keep the water retained. Any plant suggestions for next year?

Sounds like you need to put some sturdy sun-loving plants in your window boxes. Why not try Stonecrop (especially Autumn Gold), Delosperma (Ice Plant), Asters (African Daisies would thrive there!), Coreopsis, Marigold, Linum (Flax), or Zinnias. Each of these plants are reasonable drought-tolerant, and love all-day sunshine.
