The Q&A Archives: Buying Leaf Mold

Question: One keeps reading about leaf mold as a constituent of house plant soil. Where does one obtain leaf mold? I have never seen it for sale.

Answer: Leaf mold is basically composted leaves; while it is occasionally available from municipal composting programs as a rule it is not a commercially available product. One option would be to make your own, another would be to experiment by substituting another ingredient or try a different formula.
