| I have started some Cherimoyer trees by putting seeds into the soil. The trees are now 6 years old and more than ten feet high, but there are no flowers or fruit. What else should I do? |
| Cherimoyer (Annona cherimola) are fast-growing small trees that like full sunshine and ample moisture during the growing season. To encourage blossoms, prune the tree each year so it will develop bearing wood. (Blossoms and fruit are produced on new wood that sprouts from old wood.) To ensure fruit development, take a fully opened flower and brush it against the stigma of the other flowers on the tree to transfer pollen. When cutting back the branches, expect that two new sprouts will develop wherever you make a pruning cut. Try to prune so the new growth will be toward the outside of the tree, rather than inside where things will get overcrowded in a hurry! |
